Engine is
device used to convert one form (chemical energy, electrical energy) of energy
into mechanical energy. Engine is main source of energy in vehicle.

Basically
internal combustion engine converts heat energy of air-fuel mixture into
mechanical energy. This process takes place inside combustion chamber of engine
so this type of engine known as internal combustion engine.

majority vehicles internal combustion equipped as main source of energy.

is external Combustion engine?
As name
external combustion engine, combustion of air fuel mixture takes place outside
of the engine so these type of engines known as external combustion engine. External
combustion engine receives heat from other source than fuel inside the
cylinder.
