Automobile Engineering is branch of Vehicle Engineering. It is the one of the streams of mechanical engineering. It deals with various type of automobile, their mechanism, transmission system d applications. Automobile engineering has gained recognition and importance ever since motor vehicles capable for transporting passengers has been in vogue. This branch deals with designing, developing, manufacturing, testing, repairing and servicing of automobiles such as cars, trucks, motorcycles, scooters etc and related sub engineering systems.
World’s first three
wheeled automobile with Otto cycle petrol engine was built by Karl Benz of
Germany in 1885 and was granted patent on 29th January 1886. At the
same time, another team from Germany, viz. GAttlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach
built and patented the first motor cycle.
